I am Raising my Own Firecracker
“She’s a little 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑓𝑙𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟 with a lot of ᗯᗩᖇᖇIOᖇ underneath” - Melody Lee
When we found out we were having a girl we sat down to think about names. With how she wiggled I just had a feeling she was going to be a spitfire.
And oh body was I right! She is fire and grace and everything sweet. She has a mighty big temper and is fiercely independent. Everything I prayed for in a daughter and everything that makes me want to pull my hair out some days.
My heart ached a little bit the first time someone told me I had a future CEO on my hands. Because this is usually associated with a child who is bossy and I didn't necessarily want that term associated with my little girl.
But then I really thought about it and I realized, Yes, she is a firecracker and I am proud of that.
Yes, she has the personality of a CEO and she can be whatever she wants to be.
She is Fiercely Independent
Yes, she can be defiant at times.
Yes she tests my limits.
She has every bit a warrior heart when she goes head to head with her big brother and doesn't bat an eye.
When god planned my life he took my craziest qualities and put them tenfold into my kids. My son got my wild side and my daughter got my independence.
I am proud of my stubborn, unapologetic, firecracker of a daughter. Because I know these qualities will help her one day. Because one day I will not be there to protect her and I want her to have these qualities so she can protect herself.
My advice to mommas with littles like this is guide them, but let them be free. Don’t try to change them. Don't try to quell that fire but instead we should be embracing that spark in them.
We are raising strong willed girls and we should not be ashamed of that.
